What is Healing?
Spiritual healing is restoring the balance of body, mind and spirit. It is a natural, holistic approach that promotes self-healing, and can bring a sense of well-being and peace. Healing is a completely natural process. Effectively it is a flow of beneficial energy between healer and the recipient, which deals with “dis-ease” at the deepest level and frees your natural resources to work in the most effective way for you. We all have a remarkable capacity for self-healing and it is this capacity in you that the healer seeks to tap. |

What can healing do for me?
Healing can be helpful with a wide range of physical and psychological difficulties, sometimes to a remarkable degree. It is a process of relaxation, revitalisation and release at a profound level, which helps the body to adjust and heal at its own pace and in its own way. Healing seeks out the underlying cause as well as the “presenting symptoms”. This can mean that the outcome of a healing session may be beneficial in an unexpected way and not necessarily immediately: for example you may feel a sudden benefit days later or a gradual improvement over a period of time. There may be times when you experience some kind of emotional release as part of the healing process. Sometimes the process is obvious, sometimes more subtle. Healing is usually helpful, sometimes remarkably so. |
Do I need to be ill to receive healing?
No. Healing is often about restoring balance to your life and relationships with others, about expressing feelings, about change and the need for it. It often helps bring a sense of proportion and prospective and a greater feeling of “feet on the ground”, of regaining control, irrespective of whether you are ill or not. On the other hand, it can be especially helpful in a crisis situation and with terminal illness. Healing has no harmful side effects and can be used on its own or with any other therapies. Healing is above all a process to help you help yourself.
What happens during a session of healing?
A healer will work with his or her hands at a short distance from your body, or by light touch, inviting you to relax and close your eyes if you wish. During healing most patients experience a variety of sensations, perhaps warmth or coolness, tingling and pressure, or pain coming to the surface (and often dispersing) as the energy goes to work. Some patients experience very little, but the process is no less effective.
Do I need faith?
No. Healing is non_denominational. Healers’ work fromm a range of philosophies and many simply see their ability as a natural resource. Nothing special is expected of the patient however, except perhaps openness to anything that happens and a degree of trust in the healer. An awareness of the need for change and the motivation to do so can be helpful.
Healing and my doctor
Healing compliments the treatment your doctor is giving you. We recommend you tell him or her that you are receiving healing, and about any positive benefits you experience. Your doctor may be interested in finding out more. We always encourage you to remain in touch with your doctor in case your illness calls for medical intervention.
What else do I need to know?
